反滲透是用足夠的壓力使溶液中的溶劑（一般常指水）通過反滲透膜（或半透膜）而分離出來，故稱為反滲透。反滲透作為高效的脫鹽工藝技術(shù)，可將原水中的無機(jī)離子、細(xì)菌、病毒、有機(jī)物以及膠體等雜質(zhì)去除，一獲得高質(zhì)量的純凈水。根據(jù)各種物料的不同滲透壓，就可以使用大于滲透壓的反滲透方法達(dá)到分離、提取、純化和濃縮的目的。
植物提取深加工（羅漢果、銀杏樹、枳實(shí)、茶多糖、茶氨酸等有效成分的提取濃縮）中采用反滲透技術(shù)，在常溫下即可操作，能耗低，可有效避免高溫濃縮的缺點(diǎn)，提取物中許多重要的香味物質(zhì)和營養(yǎng)成分不會(huì)受到破壞產(chǎn)品香氣、色澤和滋味俱佳；***終有效成分的含量得到顯著提高；相比傳統(tǒng)的、單一的蒸發(fā)濃縮方法，產(chǎn)品的品質(zhì)和成本有了明顯的改善
